Making an Easy Stamp Difficult

Hello!

Today I am sharing a card I made using @pennyblack Slapstick Cling stamp Passionate.  I fell in love with this stamp the moment I saw it.  I saw so many different ways to use it! The first time I tried it, I used my Tombow Dual tip markers and a water brush.  It was awful!

FAIL!

I then looked closer at the stamp and realized that the shading was already built into the stamp.  I don’t know where I have been and how I didn’t know about this, but I was absolutely amazed at the results once I started daubing the ink on instead of using my Tombows.

Love!

I used MementoLuxe inks in the shades of Lilac Posies, Pear Tart and Dandelion.  I used Memento Dye inks in Rosebud, Bahama Blue and Bamboo Leaves.  I started with the Lilac Posies and daubed it over all of the flowers.  I used my MISTI for the entire project.  I did the leaves in Pear Tart and then added a little Bamboo Leaves. I thin daubed on Rosebud over a majority of each flower, trying to avoid the edges,  I then came in VERY lightly with Bahama Blue and just a touch of Dandelion.

I then swirled Distress Oxide Antique Linen and Gathered twigs in the background, even going over the flowers in some spots.  I daubed on Lilac Posies on my card based and stamped the sentiment with Gathered Twigs Distress Oxide ink. The sentiment is from Tim Holm Stampers Anonymous Glorious Bouquet. I used some foam tape on the back of my card panel to add a bit of dimension.  The entire process took 40 minutes.  The fail…an hour and a half!  Lesson well learned.

Thanks for stopping by!  See you later this week.

  1. Stunning card! The antique linen background adds an antique feel and makes for a perfect design!
I find these stamps work much better on smooth card stock too and the Misti really helps to build up the layer of shading – what would we do without it?
