1 Die…3 Looks with Paper Roses Blooming Flower Background

Happy February!

So far we have had record-setting cold, the flu and 3 snow storms.  How you doin’?  On the plus side, I have had extra craft time because it is too cold to walk my dog.

Paper Roses, an Australian stamp and die company, has introduced many new products this year.  I have to admit, they were new to me until I saw a video from Creativation highlighting them.  I actually sucked in air,  grabbed my iPad and ordered immediately after the video.  I ordered from their site directly, but I see they offer some of their products on @simonsaysstamp as well.

So today’s projects were less than an hour to make each, 2 of them less than 45 minutes.  So, fairly quick and easy.

For the first card,  I decided to go with my favorite combo, pink flowers and blue skies! I die cut the pattern out of 80lb Recollections card stock.   I took another piece of cardstock and added double-sided adhesive to it. I peeled away the other side of the adhesive and put it over the back of the cut image to move all of the pieces out of the die so I could color them.

For this card, the Copics I used were RV13, RV19 and RV17 for the pink flowers.  I used V09, V15 and V06 for the purple flowers and B14 and B16 for the background.

I colored using flicking motions, going light to dark and back again.  it looks a mess during the coloring process, but you cover it up with the borders created by the die cut. Adding the border over the image also adds dimension.

I was careful not to flick into the background, but otherwise, I threw caution to the wind!

Once I was done coloring, I added the die cut border in gold foil card stock and then black card stock, slightly offset.

For the next card, I used my cool grey Copics and a black die cut border.  I again used the flicking technique to color it.  The copics I used were C2, C3 and C4 on the two larger flowers and C1 and C3 on the two smaller flowers.  I love the look of “Black and White”!

For my final card, I used less of a contrasting palette. I colored the yellow flowers with Y15, Y08 and Y35.  The pink was RV 13 and RV 19 and the purple was V09.  I used a white border on this card, just to change up the look a little more.

All sentiments are from Simon Says Stamp Tiny Words stamp.  I stamped them on vellum and used Hero Arts Gold embossing powder.  The cards are all A2 sized.

Thanks for stopping by today.  Have a wonderful weekend!
