For today’s card, I have a quick blog post about what I used. I really like how it turned out and and wanted to share it.

I started by stamping the background with Ink on 3 Fade Out ink on Gina K Designs Jelly Bean Green card stock.

I colored the card with my Prismacolor colored pencils. For the flowers, I used PC1009, PC1008, PC934 and PC 1014. I love the pinky lavenders against the green. For the leaves I used PC988, PC109 and PC912.

For the sentiment, I used Scripty Sayings from Gina K. I have had this set for a little while and love the way the sentiments are simple, but elegant. I embossed with black embossing powder, ran the sentiment through my Xyron and attached to my card.

I attached the card to some black layering weight card stock and then attached to a white card panel. I didn’t want to add any bling, I felt like it would take away from the floral pattern.

Hi everyone!

For todays card, I created another floral birthday card. I have 4 sister, 3 sister in laws, 1 mother in law and 9 aunts. I need some feminine birthday cards. Some silly cards as well, but my aunts really like the florals.

I started with a beyond beautiful stamp set by Catherine Pooler called Grateful Heart. This is one of my favorite sets (sorry about the glare, I can only do my photos late at night). The sentiments really speaks to me. The fonts used are fabulous and there are so many ways to use the set. Use the florals in silvers, creams, whites and golds for weddings and subdued blues or greens for funerals. You may need different sentiments, but it fits so many different occasions.

I started by stamping the bough in my Misti using Sand Castle Ink. I stamped once towards the bottom, rotated the panel and stamped again. I added the side floral to my Misti and just rotated the card stock again to stamp both sides. I put that ink through the ringer with Copics and Copic blending solution and it did not smear! It worked great for no line coloring!

I colored the Navy center using B39. I then took my colorless blender and made a few dots through out the center. I colored the florals with R20, RV55 and RV69. I did a few touches with my Magenta and Indianthrene Blue Polychromos colored pencil on the flowers.

I colored the leaves around the center with YG21 and added Chrome Oxide Green and Deep Cobalt Green colored pencil. For the olive-ish leaves I used YG91 Copic and Juniper Green colored pencil. For the turquoise leaves, I used BG11 and Cobalt Green and Deep Cobalt Green.

When you start your coloring with Copics, the colored pencils blend better and the process goes so much faster!

For the sentiment, I used a stamp from the I Eat Cake stamp set. It is a really fun stamp set! I embossed with white embossing powder

To finish the panel, I used Aspen sequin mix by Catherine Pooler. It has stars, white sequins, large irridescent discs, small irridescent sequins, beads and snowflakes in it. It is a perfect shaker card mix as well as card accents.

For the interior sentiment, I used the Awesome and Wonderful stamp set and a few stars from the Grateful Heart set. I decided I would finish the interior of my cards this year.

Hello and happy belated New Year!!

I took a break from posting and enjoyed the holidays. My husband and I hosted my family. I have seven brothers and sisters and they have spouses and children. Some of their children have spouses. It is a big crew, but a fun crew!

For today’s card project, I used MFT’s Sweater Weather in the Woods and Sweater Weather on Safari. These stamp sets compliment each other perfectly.

I had colored these images during Kathy Racoosin’s 30 Day coloring Challenge in November and wanted to make a card with them so I could send them out while it was still cold out. Not sure why I hurried, it will be cold for 3 more months in Minnesota.

The first card has the owl, the beaver (my favorite) and the giraffe. I colored all of the images with my Copics. I used W4 and W6 to color the sweater, E57, E59 and E79 on the fur and W7, W8 and W9 on the tail and feet.

For the Owl, I used E42, E 43 and E44. The sweater is R27, R29 and R39. The Green is G07, G17 and G19. The Giraffe is E57, E59 and YR31, E84, E43 and E42. The sweater is C3 and C4 for the gray and R27, R29 and R39 for the red. The Green is G07, G17 and G19.

I used MFT Snow Drifts and Tree lines for all of the backgrounds. I used MFT Birch Trees to cut out the tree. I used Catherine Pooler’s It’s a Boy and Day Dream to do the sky. I colored the pine trees using G09 and G17 for the lighter tree and G17 and G28 for the darker. I used MFT’s Inside Out Diagonal for the frame. I used scrap vellum to make the critters pop in front of the background.

I created the background the same way on 2 of the cards. I cut out the Tree lines and colored on the trees. I adhered the die cut to my inked background, then added a layer of vellum. I added the sentiment on to the vellum, then glued the snow drift on. I glued on the birch tree then added the frame. I then placed the critters.

For the next card, I used the owl, zebra, fox and elephant.

I created the background in the exact same way as the previous card. I did leave out the birch tree. For the Zebra, I used C7, C9, C0,0,C1 and C2. For the sweater, I used E41, E42 and E43. I used the same red and green as on the previous sweaters.

I used the same sweater colors on the elephant as I did on the zebra. I used C1, C3 and C5 on the elephant and R20 and R 22 on the ears.

For the fox, I used E50, E53, E33, E39. I used the same colors on the foxes sweater as I did on the Giaraffe’s.

On my final card, I did not use vellum to blur out the background.

I did add water to create a little interest in the background sky. I colored the moose’s sweater just like the elephant and Giraffe’s. I used 0, W1, W3 and W5 to color the moose. I love how he turned out. To color the bear, I used the same colors as the fox for the sweater and used E59, E57, E37, E31, E33 and E49 for his fur.

I embossed the sentiment at the top of the frame, which completed this card. There is something so charming about critters in traditional sweaters. Especially if they are holding coffee cups.

Hello and happy December!

For todays cards, I used Catherine Pooler’s Build A Snowman stamp set.  Living in Minnesota, Snowman cards are greatly enjoyed.  This set has two different sized snowmen as well as all of the accessories.  They also pair beautifully with dies that you may have from other companies to create charming winter scenes.

I did not create scenes today.  I created backgrounds that were stamped exactly the same using my MISTI and then colored the snowman using my Copic B02, B00 and blender. I outlined all of the snowmen with my C3. After these steps, I changed up how I created the backgrounds.

For my first card, I kept the background white and outlined the snowman using my Copic C3. I used my R20 Copic marker to add some rosy cheeks. I stamped the nose in Orange Peel and then used Copic YR07 to add a little shading on all of the noses.  I fussy cut out all of the noses.

I then used Catherine Poolers “Jolly” die.  I cut the die out 4 times and stacked them together.  I then glued it to some vellum and cut around the word.  I glued that to the card panel.  I then used my Wink of Stella clear pen on the Jolly stack and some Glossy Accents on the nose and that completed this first card.

For my next card. I went without the rosy cheeks and added a red mitten and dots to the background. I used one of the eyes to make the dots.  I used Samba on the mittens It’s A Boy for the dots. I stamped buttons using Midnight ink. I used Wink of Stella on the snowmen and on the mittens and Glossy Accents on the carrot nose.  I used a sentiment from the Making Spirits Bright sentiment stamp set.

The next background, I colored with Copic B24 marker. I stamped some snowflakes using the smaller snowflake in the stamp set.  I heat embossed using WOW! White embossing powder. I stamped a single button using Midnight ink. For my sentiment, I heat embossed using my hodge lodge mix of black embossing powders I have.  I put Glossy Accents on the nose.

For a similar look, I colored this background with Copic B28 for the blue and then drew all of the little flakes on with my Signo Uniball white gel pen. It took about 15 minutes.  It probably would have gone faster if I wasn’t watching TV.  I stamped my sentiment using Midnight Ink. The stamp is from the Making Spirits Bright stamp set. I again did a single button on the snowman.  I colored over the sentiment with Wink of Stella.  It’s making the sentiment look gray in the photo, but it’s sparkly in real life.

Finally, I created a similar background but colored it with my C3 Copic marker and then used my Copic Blender to make the snow flakes. I put two buttons on the snowmen this time and painted the snowmen with Wink of Stella.  The sentiment is from the Making Spirits Bright stamp set.

Happy Thanksgiving Eve!

Today I am sharing a couple of Christmas Cards using the Vintage Bauble Background stamp set. These ornaments are so reminiscent of the ornaments I inherited from my grandparents. The ornaments from my grandparents are circa 1940 and so pretty.  They mean the world to me.

I started by stamping the Catherine Pooler Vintage Bauble background stamp on some kraft card stock using Versamark Mark ink.  I used Gilded Gold embossing powder by Brutus Monroe and heat set the stamp .  I was originally going to ink blend the card panel, but I decided to color with Prismacolor colored pencils.

I used white, Crimson Lake, Permanent Lake, Pomegranate, Process Red and Scarlett Lake to color the Red and Pink version.  If I had to to it again, I would stamp with Twighlight ink, leave the stamp in my MISTI, color and then re-stamp with Versamark Ink and emboss with embossing powder.

For the sentiment, I ink blended Sangria and Baby Girl on some scrap cardstock.  I then cut the sentiment out using Catherine Poolers Merry Christmas layer die.  The layer is out of vellum.  I adhered using Nuvo glue pen.

For the blue version, I created the background using the same stamp, ink and embossing powder.  I colored the image using white, Denim Blue, China Blue, Cobalt Blue, Cerulean Blue and Violet Blue Prismacolor colored pencils.

For the ombré sentiment, I used It’s A Boy, Day Dream and Juniper inks by Catherine Pooler.

I really love this stamp.  I may ink blend this stamp yet this season!

Hi Everyone!  Are we surviving the Polar Vortex?  It is just crazy.  I like the cold, but not this early.

For today’s card, I created a thank you made out of a variety of Catherine Pooler stamps, inks, papers and dies.

I used the Happy Buddies stamp set and the sentiment is from the Chillin’ Snow Flake stamp set ( I dropped my Midnight Ink on my Polar Bear, he doesn’t have black stripes on him). The critters in this stamp set are so adorable and can be used throughout the year for any occasion.  The Penguins look like they could be holding a heart for Valentine’s Day or flowers for Mother’s Day or as a thank you.  The deer and polar bear look like they are trying to give a hug and they can hold the “happy” banner above any kind of celebration sentiment.  I stamped out all of the images and have cards coming soon with the other images.

To start, I stamped the deer out on some scrap card stock.  It’s thicker so I think it was Neenah 110lb, but I am not sure. I stamped the image using Sandcastle Ink.  This shade allows the lines of the stamp to blend well with my Copics in the E30-E39 range.  It isn’t no line coloring, it is a nice blend with my markers.  I like the lines on this image, it is so darling that I don’t want to change the look with no line coloring.  The Copics I used for the deer are E31, E33, E35 and E39.  I used E49 for the nose, eyes and mouth.

I ink blended Sandcastle ink on a piece of white cardstock and then inked up the Woodgrain Background with Icing On The Cake ink and stamped over it.  I cut a frame out of the stamped image using the largest and 3rd largest Stitched Rectangle dies from Lawn Fawn.  I cut the snow banks out of white card stock using Lawn Fawn Stitched Hillside Borders.  I stamped the sentiment on the smaller snow bank using Day Dream ink.

The adorable snowy background is pattern paper from the Catherine Pooler Patterns and Pine 6×6 paper collection.  I would love to have an entire paper pad of this paper!  It is the perfect winter background! I adhered the larger snow bank to the background paper.  I glued the deer to the snowbank and background paper and then attached the smaller snow bank using 3M foam tape.

I attached some clear packaging to the frame.  I was going to make it a shaker card, but decided against it. I added more 3M foam tape on the frame and attached it to my card base.

I cut 3 snow flakes out of 40lb vellum and attached them to the frame using my Xyron sticker maker.  I used the smallest die from the Snow Flake Trio die.  I have a quick and easy card planned using all of the Snow Flake dies.

That’s all it took to make the card.  I just love how the deer looks ready to give a hug!

I am hurrying to get this blog post completed.  We are supposed to get snow tomorrow so my drive home will take forever – which means no time to blog or craft.  And I really need to clean the ashes out of the fireplace so we can have a fire tomorrow night.

For today’s card share, I made a really quick, not overly traditional Christmas card using two Catherine Pooler Stamp sets; Sweet Home Wreath and Boughs and Berries.  These stamp sets work beautifully together!

I started by stamping the fuller (top) leaf wreath with Versamark ink and embossing it with Ranger Detail Gold Embossing powder.  I then stamped the other leaf wreath with Versamark and embossed it with Brutus Monroe Penny embossing powder.

I stamped the sentiment in the middle of the two wreaths using Versamark embossing ink and Ranger Liquid Platinum embossing powder.  I stamped some of the images from Boughs and Berries using Catherine Poolers Rockin Red for the larger floral, Samba for the smaller floral, Juniper for the darker blue leaves and Day Dream for the lighter blue leaves.

I stamped the center of the florals with Versamark Ink and embossed with Ranger Gold embossing powder. I glued the leaves and the single flower with liquid glue and then popped up the dual flower with 3M foam tape.  I then mounted my card panel onto some scrap gold card stock and then mounted the entire panel to a top fold card base.

For final touches, I added a few Nuvo drops in Gilded.

This card was so quick and very easy to make multiples. I really like how the sentiment from Boughs and Berries fits into the Sweet Home Wreath center.

Happy Fall, Y’all.  I am currently watching a cold front come in.  We are going from 85 degrees to 55 degrees.  Only in fall!

For todays card, I made another fall scene using products from several different companies.  I like combining stamp companies, it stretches my stash!

I used the pumpkins, acorns and leaves from the Honey Bee Pumpkin Patch.  I stamped them using Memento Tuxedo Black ink. I colored them with Copics.

For the leaves, I used YG23, YG03, G17, YR04 and YR07.  I started by coloring with the greens and worked my way up. I used E53, E55 and E57 on the acorns.

For the pumpkins, I used YR82, YR27, E57, YR04 and Y07.  I cut everything out using my Brother Scan N Cut.

To create my background, I used my favorite night sky combination, Catherine Poolers Day Dream, Royal Treatment and Black Jack.  I blended the inks and then spritzed a little water on the background.  I used an amazing background cover plate called Starry Night.  It is by far my favorite background die ever!

I then used Eucalyptus and Green Tea inks from Catherine Pooler to create the grassy hills and cut them out with Lawn Fawn Stitched Hillside Border dies.

I cut out a cloud with vellum using Paper Smooches Cloud die and stamped my sentiment using a combination of black embossing powder and a stamp from Simon Says Stamp Nutty Over you. I think it is a perfect sentiment!

To assemble the card, I glued the background and hills to my card panel.  I arranged my cut out images, then glued them down. I sprayed my cloud with adhesive and attached it to my card.  Added a little shimmer here and there and my card was complete.

Hello all,

I am continuing with my fall cards. I made this card using Hello Autumn from Catherine Pooler. Who doesn’t love colorful leaves?! It is a very easy layering stamp set. There are letters and numbers showing where to start and the next stamp to use. I enjoyed trying different color combinations, but the one I used today was my favorite.  I also used the sentiment from Autumn Blessings.

 

I started by stamping the base layer in Limoncello.  I randomly stamped the Oak Leaf all over the card.  I then stamped the next layer in Sauna.  These two colors combined make a light burnt orange. The third layer was Mandarin spice.  If you wanted a brighter layer, Orange twist works well.  The final layer was Icing On The Cake.  There were a lot of leaves to stamp, it probably took almost an hour to get them all stamped. I then stamped the acorn from Autumn Blessings using Icing On The Cake.

I then stamped the sentiment Blessing on vellum using Versamark Ink and Carnelian embossing powder from Recollections.  I took the word Autumn from Autumn Blessings and stamped it with Versamark Ink.  I used Brutus Monroe Penny embossing powder to finish it off.

I grabbed Elmer’s Glue spray adhesive and sprayed the entire vellum piece on the back.  It dries clear and is great adhesion!  I added an extra pumpkin I had colored from Autumn Blessing set as well. I trimmed off the edges on the card panel.

I took a white card panel and smeared the edges with Mandarin Spice. I glued my panel onto the Mandarin Spice panel and added everything to an A2 card base.  This finished my card.

Hi Everyone!

We have a beautiful fall day in Minneapolis, so I am blogging on my deck.  Football is on inside, but I just can’t sit there and watch it when it is this gorgeous outside.

So Friday was cool and drizzly.  I decided to make some cards and got three completed that evening.  I am writing about the first card I made which was my response to the Stamp Nation Color Challenge.  The colors given were Royal Treatment, Mandarin Spice, Green Tea, Eucalyptus and Daydream.  I had just received my Spooky Hollow stamp from Catherine Pooler (which I got on sale) and decided I needed to get the kids Halloween cards going so I can focus on Christmas cards at the end of this month and early October.

I love the look of the haunted house and the moon and the stars.  I stamped the pumpkins from Autumn Blessings and used the oak leaf from Hello Autumn, both by Catherine Pooler. Hello Autumn is a layering stamp set, so it was fun to try different color combinations.

I started by stamping the pumpkins in Sauna. I put some Mandarin Spice, Orange Twist and Icing On The Cake on an acrylic block and colored over my stamped pumpkins using a Tombow blender pen.

I stamped the oak leaves in Limoncello, Sauna then Orange Twist and Icing On The Cake for a brighter look or Mandarin Spice subbed in for Orange twist for a more subdued look. I fussy cut out my pumpkins and leaves.

For the house, I stamped on some Neenah 110lb cardstock and heat embossed with a mixture of black embossing powder.  I had 3 or 4 different brands that were low so I mixed them all together in one container.

I put Royal Treatment, Icing On The Cake, Black Jack and Sauna on an acrylic block and colored in the house. I again used a Tombow blender pen. I fussy cut out the house.  I cut off the weather vane while fussy cutting.  This is why you need the dies. I stamped the tombstones in Twighlight and colored them in using a blender pen.  I fussy cut those out as well.

I ink blended Day Dream, Royal Treatment and a little Black Jack on a card panel to create a night sky.  I blended Green Tea and Eucalyptus on a card panel to create grassy hills.  I really like these color combos for the night sky and grass. I cut both panels out using Lawn Fawn’s largest Stitched Rectangle die.  I cut grassy hills out using Lawn Fawn’s Stitched Hillside Borders.  I stamped the moon and stars from Spooky Hollow all over my night sky panel using Versamark Ink and Wow White Embossing Powder.  I then stamped the fence across the night sky card panel and embossed with my black embossing powder mixture.  I stamped my sentiment on the front layer of grass and embossed with Wow White Embossing Powder.

It is time to assemble the card.  I glued the sky panel to an A2 card base. I then glued the larger/darker panel of grass to the card.  I attached the house and the tombstones to the grassy hills.  I then added the front layer of grass to the card panel and attached the pumpkins.  I added the oak leaves to the upper corner to make it appear as if you were standing under the tree. I used Art Glitter glue to do all of the adhering.

I am really happy with how this came out. I need to make another one so both kids get a card.
